Shipping is calculated by computer and is not always accurate. When in doubt, feel free to email me a list of the items you would like to order, and I'll get back to you with an accurate amount. Another option is to place the items you'd like in your cart, take a picture of your screen with the order, and email it to me. If you use the web page shipping algorithm and are overcharged, I'll certainly notify you and refund the difference.

When in doubt, please contact me first.

Indigo Extravaganza! Segment ONE
THREE SESSIONS, two hours each, focusing on giving you a good, working foundation for understanding how indigo works. The Zoom recording of the class session is now available for download. You will be welcome to email John questions that pertain to Segment Four, as the need arises.

At the end of each session, you will be given links to that day’s Zoom recording to download along with access to material specific to this class. In addition to the Zoom recording, I’ll be uploading higher quality vid-clips to allow you to see what I’ve presented with greater detail and ease. These clips will be available on Vimeo all the way through the last class and one month beyond – allowing you to access them as often as you like to work at your own pace.
There will be plenty of time for questions and answers during class.

1A Just What is Japanese Indigo?
A thorough exploration of how indigo functions along with how to achieve the broadest range of colors possible through various extraction techniques and pH manipulation – including yellow, green, cinnabar, and purple.

1 – B Fresh Leaf Direct Application
Applying the fresh leaves directly to the fiber may seem simple enough but in reality, it can be a tricky procedure. Over the past fifty years,  I’ve developed a great many tricks and tips to allow you the greatest artistic expression with this simplest of materials.

1 – C Fresh Leaf pH Neutral Cold Bath
One of the joys of working with Persicaria is the ability to achieve so many effects with so little. The basic fresh-leaf bath is easy to prepare, and, in this segment, we’ll be covering a myriad of approaches to take advantage of the quirky nature in which the dye stains the fiber. This allows for a broad range of shades of blue and green as well as complex surface patterning.
