Plunging into the Depths of Japanese Textiles

Three hours of exploring the full range of traditional textiles produced in Japan – what could be more fun? I’ll be delving into my stash of textiles - over fifty years of collecting (hoarding?) - and sharing only the very best with you.
Textiles have always played a crucial role in the history of humankind. In addition to focusing on the dye techniques and weave structures employed, I’ll be sprinkling my discussion with anecdotes relating the sample at hand to the original owner, or how it came to be in my possession.
If you have a Japanese textile in your collection that you’d like to know more about, feel free to send me one image, no more than 2 MB, please, and if appropriate, I’ll talk about it in class. Mail photos or inquires to textiles@johnmarshall.to.
  See you soon!
