Liziqi (wonderful videos on Chinese culture by one woman - including indigo dyeing,
making brushes and sumi ink - and repairing an old stone well! She’s amazing.)

I’ve uploaded the images you may select from for class. Take a look at the style
in which they are drawn. If you have an mage of your own you would like to
substitute and work on in class, please feel free to do so.

These are the supplies you will need to pull together for class…

- a needle and a range of colors of sewing thread
- several sheets of shirtboard (the stiff paper on the back of writing tablets)
- carbon paper (dressmakers carbon is also fine)
- white glue (I prefer pH neutral, PVA, used by bookbinders)
- sharp scissors, for both paper and fabric
- an awl or large needle
- batting (polyfill is fine, such as that used for baby quilts)
- a range of textile remnants from your stash. Weaves that are slightly loose or
forgiving work best. Stiff weaves, such as china silk or pongee, are a bit
harder to work with for beginners.
- good quality water colors (moist cakes or tube paints are easiest to use, but
start with any old colors you may have left over from that painting class you took twenty years ago)
- a few watercolor brushes
- an embroidery hoop will be useful but not required (10” or larger would be great)
- 1/4 cup dry soy beans
- sense of humor
