Clamp resist is a fun and gratifying method of dyeing fabric. But some of us just can ’t stop there!
Maybe larger, more complex blocks? How about introducing multiple shades or colors using a complex system of plugs and holes, allowing the artist to “play” the block–a bit akin to playing a pipe organ, with colors instead of sounds?

Join me as I play in my studio for a day. You’ll be able to watch me prepare the fabric and clamps, set up the dye pot and dip the clamped yardage in both a hot onionskin bath and an indigo vat, introducing cochineal along the way. The best part is revealing the …Oops, sorry, no spoilers!
